Surf Week 2027

How We Make Our Guides – Editorial Standards & Affiliate Disclosure

Atlantic Wave Dreams is an independent surf travel site for surfers from Northern Europe. This page explains who writes our guides, how we research them, and how the site is funded – so you can judge for yourself how much to trust what you read here.

Who writes the guides

Every guide is written by Jeppe, a surfer and former coastal lifeguard who worked for five years on the Danish west coast. That background shapes how we write: we pay extra attention to currents, reef, crowds and who a spot is actually suitable for. Read more about Jeppe.

How we research

Some destinations we know from our own trips; others we haven’t surfed ourselves. We don’t pretend otherwise. Where we lack first-hand experience, we build our guides on well-documented information: long-term swell and wind patterns, sea temperature records, information from local surf schools and tourism sources, and travel logistics we check against current routes.

We keep key figures consistent across the site – for example, water temperatures and wetsuit recommendations use the same ranges in every guide and in every language. When we find a figure that doesn’t hold up, we correct it everywhere it appears.

Keeping guides up to date

Flight routes, prices and surf schools change. We review our guides regularly and update them when something changes. Prices are always rough estimates to help you plan – check current prices before you book. If you spot something outdated or wrong, please tell us via the About page, and we’ll fix it.

How the site is funded (affiliate disclosure)

Some links on this site – especially the hotel and accommodation buttons – are affiliate links. If you book through them, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra, and it’s what keeps the site free and independent.

  • No destination, surf school or hotel pays to be included or to be ranked higher.
  • We recommend places because they suit a certain kind of surfer – not because of a commission.
  • We tell you when a destination isn’t right for your level, even if that means you book somewhere else.

Surf Week

We are planning our own small group trip, Surf Week 2027 in Porto. Where we mention it in our guides, it’s clearly marked as our own trip.

Safety

Our guides are general advice. Conditions change from day to day, so always check the local forecast, ask lifeguards or surf schools on site, and only paddle out where you’re comfortable. Read our 5 essential surf safety rules.
